School Readiness Program

Our School Readiness Program gives our JK/SK children a chance to prepare for entrance to elementary school. The program is under the supervision of Clinical Psychologist, Dr. Bruce Linder. This program offers ABA analysis, traditional classroom setting and Ontario school curriculum.

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)

We offer flexible and affordable IBI and ABA programs. We to attempt to correct or remediate any skill gaps and deficits identified during the assessment phase and reduce challenging behaviours. ABA utilizes the science of behavior to change behavior. This is achieved by increasing or decreasing certain behaviors, improving the quality or to teach new behaviors. ABA treatments are less intensive and require lesser service hours.

Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) is a method of analysis and implementation steps that is devoted to improving behaviour habits.  These behavioural methods are scientifically based and take advantage and build up on existing profiles while reducing any problematic profiles.

ABA is focused on providing the needs of both your child and family.  These methods will focus on bettering personal and inter-personal and academic skills, as well as providing self-help tools and socialization skills.

Intensive Behavior Intervention (IBI)

When dealing with children who have autism, Intensive Behavioural Intervention (IBI) is an effective method of treatment.  The intensive and comprehensive delivery of this treatment is guided by the clinical application of the learning principles and teaching strategies of ABA.  Because IBI is more intense, 20-25 hours a week is typical.  IBI sessions can also be run in either a one-to-one or within a group.

Behaviour in children and individuals has always been and will continue to be within the community.  Thanks to methods such as Intensive Behaviour Intervention (IBI) and Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) helping children as well as behaviour affected individuals has allowed us to compose a routine and schedule in improving and addressing behavioural habits and changing or altering them accordingly.

IBI is a more intense treatment strategy primarily utilized for children that have an Autistic Spectrum Disorder and should start early in the child’s youth, typically before the age of 4. The primary goal is to adjust behaviour trajectory to ensure the child can be put on the correct path to developing functional communication, social and playtime skills, as well as per-academic and self-care skills.

HOPE center is an approved DFO provider for families that require DFO funding, additionally HOPE center is able to provide privately funded IBI, should it be required.

Speech and Language Services

The first step in every speech therapy treatment involves an assessment performed by trained speech-language pathologists to better understand the challenges faced by the person seeking treatment. Our therapy session is tailored according to the individual’s needs, taking into consideration factors such as attention span and abilities.

Speech and language disorders are more common than not amongst our society, and can be a debilitating disorder. Speech disorders can include a person’s in-ability to produce spoken sounds or induce stuttering, while language disorders can be hinder in the individual’s ability to understand or express both feelings and thoughts at a consistent level.

Regardless of the speech and language disorders, there are services that will assist in both diagnosing the disorder and coming up with appropriate treatment.

Speech Language Pathologists (SLP’s) can assess the speech and language disorder and can come up with a variety of intervention programs that will assist in supporting listening and language comprehension, expression, and voice and social communication.

Communicative Disorders Assistants (CDA’s) work closely with the SLP’s and prepare the necessary resources and client tools as well as educate and provide training to clients and families on the above resources and tools.

Social Skills Programs

Groups are specially designed to create supportive environments for students to practice social skills. The groups are assigned based on age range and involves both outdoor and indoor settings to encourage social interaction, developing friendships and to build interests in various leisure activities.

For children, youths, and teens with autism, peer and support groups are available. The primary focus would be to assist with strengthening communication skills and building social skills while interacting with others – playing, socializing, and making friends.
