Respite Worker

 

Job Summary

As a respite worker, you will serve as the primary caregiver for vulnerable children with autism ages 3-18. Your responsibilities include assisting with daily activities like eating, drinking, and hygiene, ensuring their safety and comfort, and communicating any concerns to the center and the parents.

Qualifications and Skills

  • One year of childcare experience would be an asset.
  • A degree in psychology or a related field or a diploma in a behavioural science program would be an asset.
  • Candidate must have a valid Ontario driver’s license, a vehicle and be willing to travel throughout GTA, York Region, and Durham Region.
  • First Aid and CPR certifications
  • Proven attendance record.
  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Caring, patient, friendly and professionally.
  • Commitment to providing an exceptional experience for staff and clients within a challenging environment.
  • Other languages would be an asset.
