Intensive Behavioural Intervention

Intensive Behavior Intervention (IBI)

When dealing with children who have autism, Intensive Behavioural Intervention (IBI) is an effective method of treatment.  The intensive and comprehensive delivery of this treatment is guided by the clinical application of the learning principles and teaching strategies of ABA.  Because IBI is more intense, 20-25 hours a week is typical.  IBI sessions can also be run in either a one-to-one or within a group.

Behaviour in children and individuals has always been and will continue to be within the community.  Thanks to methods such as Intensive Behaviour Intervention (IBI) and Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) helping children as well as behaviour affected individuals has allowed us to compose a routine and schedule in improving and addressing behavioural habits and changing or altering them accordingly.

IBI is a more intense treatment strategy primarily utilized for children that have an Autistic Spectrum Disorder and should start early in the child’s youth, typically before the age of 4. The primary goal is to adjust behaviour trajectory to ensure the child can be put on the correct path to developing functional communication, social and playtime skills, as well as pre-academic and self-care skills.

HOPE centre is an approved DFO provider for families that require DFO funding, additionally HOPE centre is able to provide privately funded IBI, should it be required.
